This page explains how Moveline operates, what our role is in your move, and how we are paid. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy so you understand exactly what you are agreeing to when you request an estimate.
Broker Licensing and Registration
Moveline is a household goods moving broker registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), an agency of the United States Department of Transportation.

Our registration status can be verified through the FMCSA public database at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov.
We Are a Broker, Not a Motor Carrier
Moveline does not own trucks, employ drivers, or transport household goods. We do not take possession of your belongings at any point.
Our role is to gather information about your move and connect you with independently licensed and insured motor carriers who perform the transportation. Any contract for moving services is formed directly between you and the carrier you choose — not with Moveline.
How Our Cost Estimates Work
Estimates shown on our website and calculator are informational projections, not binding quotes. They are generated from typical market rates for comparable moves using the details you provide, such as origin, destination, home size, and timing.
Your final price is set by the carrier you select and may differ from our estimate. Costs commonly change because of:
- Actual weight or volume of your shipment
- Access conditions at either address, such as stairs, elevators, or long carries
- Seasonal demand and the date you choose to move
We recommend obtaining a written estimate directly from your chosen carrier before booking.
How Moveline Is Compensated
Moveline does not charge consumers a fee to use our website, calculator, or quote comparison tools.
We are paid by the moving companies in our network. Compensation may take the form of a referral fee, a lead fee, or a commission when a customer we introduce books a move. This means we have a financial relationship with the carriers we present to you.
Compensation does not change the estimate we show you, and we do not accept payment in exchange for a higher ranking or a more favourable review.
Valuation and Insurance Coverage
Moving companies are required to offer two levels of liability for your shipment:
- Released Value Protection — provided at no additional cost, with liability limited to a minimum amount per pound per article
- Full Value Protection — available at additional cost, under which the carrier is responsible for the replacement value of lost or damaged items
Valuation coverage is not the same as insurance. Moveline does not sell, underwrite, or administer moving insurance or valuation coverage, and any claim must be filed directly with your carrier.
